Twenty-Two Days of Taupe: Day 6

Today’s look is more on the “khaki taupe” side. Here is a breakdown of the eye makeup:

-ELF Cream Eye Shadow in Pewter
-Essence Eye Shadow in Back to Khaki
-MAC Painterly Paint Pot
-MAC Concrete Eye Shadow
-Cover Girl Champagne Eye Shadow
-MAC Feline Kohl Power
-MAC Coffee Eyeliner
-MUFE Smoky Lash
-Cover Girl Lash Blast

I totally didn’t plan to rock a big oversized bun but my hair was totally uncooperative!  Hated it at first but now I totally dig it <33

Royally Blue

I love wearing neutral colors and solid prints then accenting the outfit with pops of color. I’ve been into using my eye makeup and shoes as accessories &  pops of color lately.

For makeup, I used the Too Faced Smokey Eye Shadow collection-I had been DYING to use the blueberry toned colors in the palette but never knew what to accent them wtih–then I saw those royal blue shoes–and viola!

*Insert cheesy (obviously fake smile) picture of me holding the heel of my shoe* ;)

Charlotte Church-Back To Scratch Inspired Look

I always feel super weird doing “celebrity inspired” looks as I’m NOT a professional makeup artist in any way shape or form. Everyone has a different face shape–round, oval etc… eye color can make it tough, brows, as well as different eye shapes-mine happened to be hooded. These factors make it very hard to recreate inspired looks. I feel like my hooded eyes make it hard to pull off most looks.

However, I do like to recreate looks that I see celebrity rockin’–so long as their wearable! :)

I’ve always admired the makeup Charlotte Church worse in the “Back To Scratch” music video. although I couldn’t get a clear image, this is the best one I’ve come up with. Her makeup definitely looks like a forest green meets ashy green.

Charlotte’s look is definitely an acquired taste as it’s super dark and heavily lined on the lower lash line.
I created this toned down version of the look. Super sultry and dark without the heavy makeup on the lower lash line. Not sure if it’s worth doing a video tutorial on the look but I quite like this look. xo

I don’t feel like this photo does the lower lash line justice. It looked WAY better in person!

Makeup used for the eyes:

Stila Smudge Pot in Black
Sleek Bad Girl Palette
NARS Night Porter Eye Shadow
MAC Humid Eye Shadow
MAC Engraved Eye Liner
ELF Liner in “Moss”

Glam Preppy.

“The most beautiful thing about a person isn’t looks, but heart and personality….”

I like to think I add a little bit of ‘glam’ to everything.  I took a rather conservative outfit and jazzed it up in typical Nancy Valentino fashion. *lol*

…off subject

I’m planning on doing a video on tips and advice to those of you who are looking to revamp your wardrobe after a weight loss. I’ve made LOTS of fashion faux pas over my weight loss journey. Many people think it’s fun to go shopping after a weight loss but I found it stressful, financially draining & down right confusing! I like to think my wardrobe is very versatile and balanced now. I’ll get more into this another time. Whether you’re looking for inspiration after a weight loss or perhaps you’re just looking to spruce up your current wardrobe….either way I hope you’ll find it helpful.

Back to today’s outfit, I jazzed up the outfit with this mauvey flower statement necklace, faux stud earrings and cool toned nude pumps. I’m not usually one to rock a belt but I recently got these little skinny belts (as shown) and I’ve been loving them–they add a little something to shorts & skinnies.

For hair, keep it quick and easy-sorta. I took large sections of hair and wrapped them around a clip-less curling iron and pinned accordingly. Having the side fringe is REALLY bringing a whole new dimension to different hairstyles I do.

For makeup I used a palette that I’ve had for a while now, the NYX For Your Eyes Only Smokey Eye Palette–I tend to only use this one in Fall & Winter. I forgot how much I adore this palette!!!!!!!!!! Today I rocked a warm taupe eye with hint of silver…the color payoff is pretty awesome. I like to use the light colors as highlighters for the face.

If you’d like to see what yours truly wears around the house then look below *lol* You get a good view of the makeup too. When I get home, I usually slip right into my comfies….;)

Here is a breakdown of my makeup:

Neutral Eyes & A Pop of Coral

Yesterday’s FOTD was something a bit different for me but as always,
change can be an awesome thing!

My beautiful friend Melina sent me the Limited Edition MAC Viva Glam
Cyndi lippy. I paired it with a neutral smokey eye. I’ve been LOVING
this look! I wore the eye combo again today. I think I may have found
my must have neutral eye when I’m rockin’ bold lips this Fall! I also
took a few “glamour” shots for fun…lol

Today we ventured out to have a look at our new home! We make the long & exciting move in less than two weeks! I kept the outfit and accessories simple but in typical “Nancy Valentino” fashion, I glammed it up a bit! *lol* I love this sundress–it’s such a flattering color for any skin tone. I’ve been LOVING this eye makeup…The DIY mixing medium worked fabulously!!!! I’m so excited that my whole jar of Jardin Aires pigment will actually get used now!

“Holly-day” Smokey Eyes

With the holiday season upon us, I thought it would only be appropriate to rock “Holly-day” smokey eyes. I really wanted to do a tutorial on this look but unfortunately a few people  got to the green smokey holiday eyes before I did. Being a lesser known girl in the YouTube beauty community, I didn’t want to look like I was jumping on the bandwagon-*lol*.

I didn’t use any fancy products. Green is one of those colors that I don’t wear on a daily basis so I invested in a inexpensive green colored palette by Physicians Formula. I really wanted the “Smokey Green Eyes palette”  but sadly Target didn’t have it. I saw the “Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Palette” and it had the perfect shades of green. This palette is made for green eyes but I thought the look turned out well on my dark brown eyes.

To complete the whole look, I used MAC cream coloured base on Pearl as my highlight color, NARS Laguna Bronzer (my new obsession), NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Rocky Mountain Green as a base & eyeliner. I went very neutral on the lips with MAC’s Creme d’ Nude.

This is the first time I ever wore eye shadows and liner that was NOT brown or black. I have to say, it’s a nice change! I’m really diggin’ this look and I will be definitely rockin’ the “Holly-day” smokey eyes more often.

Have a fantastic week! xo
