Holiday Beauty: How To Get A Natural Soft Glow & Outfit Ideas

The Holiday Season is finally here! Here are some ideas for your next holiday party! I’ll be doing a silver and possibly a glitter look in this Holiday Series as well!

This outfit is my “casual glam” look–a term I created (*lol*) when one wears a dressy top and pairs it with jeans.

A Pop of Plum

Yesterday I opted to do an all black outfit–chic & comfortable but I didn’t want to do a black smokey eye–it would have been mega overkill.

I wanted a pop of color so I opted for a deep plummy purple smokey eye–I think this look is  appropriate eye makeup for Halloween–well for me at least–no parties or special events for me (other than taking my mini out trick or treating :D )-honestly though, it’s that perfect deep purple you see in Halloween inspired items. Here’s a breakdown…

EYES:

-Sleek Bad Girl Palette (the deep purple)
-MAC Bat Black Cream Color Base
-MAC Painterly Paint Pot
-Stila Smudge Pot in Black
-MAC Circa Plum Pigment
-NARS Night Fever Eye Shadow
-MAC Vanilla Eye Shadow
-CoverGirl Lash Blast in Black
-MAC Feline Kohl Power

FACE:

-NARS Laguna Bronzer
-Benefit High Beam
-Coty Airspun

LIPS:

-MAC Good Times Lip Glass

Hope you’re all enjoying the weekend!

…xoxo

Feeling Nostalgic

“It’s beauty that captures your attention; personality which captures
your heart.” -Unknown

Today I felt like wearing a dress. There is something about a dress,
especially in the summer time, it makes you feel extra feminine &
glamorous. I have quite a few summer dresses in my wardrobe but this
one makes me feel a bit vintage with the way that it’s cut. In fact, I’d say this dress makes me feel somewhat nostalgic.

Today I did my hair a bit different–an oversized bun with a middle part. It
felt super elegant & sleek–I’m in love.

Today’s makeup:
I tried something new with my Too Faced New Smokey Eye Palette. I used
all the colors in the day look. I may do a tutorial on it because I
was very happy with the way it came out.
MAC Coffee Eyeliner
MAC Museum Bronze Pigment
Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara (2 coats)

MAC Soft & Gentle to highlight,
Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer
MAC MSF in Medium Plus

MAC Playing Koi lipstick
NARS Turkish Delight lipgloss

A Dreary Sunday

I meant to post this sooner but this week has been pretty hectic. This past Sunday was dreary, raining and somewhat chilly. As always, I find it to be a major challenge putting together an appropriate outfit. But I thought this one was appropriate for the day.

Sunday’s outfit included a dark grey shirt with a rosette accent flower and cinched princess sleeves, dark skinny jean, my signature black boots-lol & a quiff ponytail because it was SO humid out! My arm candy od the day was my Coach wristlet-which is surprisingly roomy!  I’m also wearing my rosette bracelet that my beautiful friend, Tara got for me. Love it! :)

For makeup, I used my Wet n’ Wild Lust Palette-it has a beautiful range of plums & purples. Not usually a fan of purple but I like to rock it on a rare occasion. These eye shadows are some of the BEST drugstore eyeshadow out there in my opinion.  I adore them–with the right base-perfection!

Playing with “I Got Good Jeans”

Yesterday I used my Wet n’ Wild “I Got Good Jeans” eye shadow trio. I must say, I really liked it! It’s always nice to be pleasently surprised like that. I have to say that some of these eye shadows from Wet n’ Wild are just as pigmented and long wearing as anything you’d find at MAC or Sephora. Not sure how I feel about this gold color being paired with such cool colors in this trio  but overall, I really like the way these shadows preform.

I did a really basic smokey eye–I used the “brow bone” color as my lid color and the “crease” colored in my crease. I darkened it a bit in the outer V with NARS Night Flight.

Golden Green Eyes

This is a little preview on my next tutorial. Time has not been on my side lately but I really want to film this look soon. I really love green eye shadows-there are so many beautiful green hues out there. Golden green is perfect for a sunny Spring day. I laugh a bit as I write this because a year ago, if you would have asked me how I felt about green e/s, I would have said “it’s not my thing…”The more involved I get into my YouTube channel, I find myself  experimenting with lots of new colors. While it’s nice to wear neutral looks, it’s such a refreshing change to have a pop of color!

Sultry Gray & Plum Cat Eyes

I took this pic before I realized I needed a gloss touch up! *lol*

Hey Everyone!

I wanted to show you all one of the looks I created with the NYX I Dream of Barbados Palette. I’m in love with all of these colors!  I’m not big on wearing pinks and purples on my eyes but I do like it on a rare occasion. I do plan on doing some Valentines Day inspired looks as well as a few looks that are appropriate for the winter. I’m thinking a Snow Bunny look is in order for January 2011 with the NYX I Dream of Barbados Palette!  In the meantime, I created a Gray/Plum smokey eye and a cool toned pink lip.  I will be doing a full review on this NYX palette after I do my “Snow Bunny” look. I will say, though I’ve only used 3 of the 5 colors, I do like what I’m seeing.

I adore this palette because all the colors are cool toned but flattering. I’m glad I found a great pale pink gloss that was complementing.  I love Smashbox’s lip gloss in Pout almost as much as I love MAC’s Fashion Scoop. Fashion Scoop is wearable all year round where I find that Pout is only wearable in the wintertime. It just seems a bit much to wear on a hot 90 degree day, ya know??

Below in this piccy, I’m wearing Smashbox’s Pout on my lips.

As you can see from the pictures, I did a smokey cat eye. Cat eyes are a bit new to me…I never really wore my makeup this way but it’s a nice change…. definitely adds more of a sexy & sultriness  to the look. *rawr* <–LOL!

Hope you all are enjoying the holiday season! Three more days!!! Gosh, I remember when the eBay countdown said “53 days” ahh!!
