A Healthy Glow

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

I’m definitely not fond of the “fake & bake” tans. I used to love going to the tanning booth but it’s  100% unhealthy so I decided to try the self tanning lotions. What I like about this method  is it’s a safe and relatively easy way to get a nice warm glow. For the past year I had been using Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizing Lotion after a shower. I recently picked up a new product by Jergens that does the same thing but in a foamy form.  I decided that I HAD to try this new formula because there are definitely some cons to the lotion form.

Some of my cons with the lotion form:

-Bad  chemical smell that lasts all day-scented lotions, perfumes & body sprays did not help.

-Took FOREVER to make sure it was dry all over my body. I was afraid of the lotion getting on my clothing .

-Very time consuming to put on.

I’d have to say that I really like the foamy version MUCH better. I found that it was easier to use and dried much quicker.  There was a hint of a chemical like smell but not nearly as strong as the lotion. I also saw results quicker too-in just 2 days I was noticeably tanner.

Overall, I really prefer the Jergens Daily Moisturizing Foam as opposed to the lotion.  It’s just THAT amazing!

Kiehl’s Imperial Body Balm

bodybalm

I’ve been using Kiehl’s Imperial Body Balm for over a month now and I’ve got to say that I am impressed. It’s totally out of my character to buy high priced body lotions but I wanted to break the cycle that I was currently in. Every Fall/ Winter season, I find myself reaching for the bakery scented lotions and while they smell AMAZING, I still have issues with dry & itchy skin.

When I first sampled the Imperial Body Balm on my arm, I really noticed a difference in how smooth my skin felt. It was noticeably more shiny & soft. The lotion is extremely thick & looks like whipped butter!

A little goes a long way. I really enjoy the scent of the product-it smells very natural & light so I can wear any perfume with it. It does not smell artificial in any way.

PROS: There were quite a few things that sold me on this product: the richness of the product, the scent, and also that fact that it’s loaded with antioxidants. There has been a noticeable difference in my skin after using this body balm. But you have to consistently with using it to notice the change.

CONS: There aren’t too many cons to the Imperial Body Balm other than the price-it’s $42. Some people may not feel comfortable paying that much got a lotion. To me, it was totally worth it-as I said, a little goes a long way plus you get about 8.4 oz so it’s a lot of product.

Great work Kiehl’s, I’m officially a fan!
