Makeup Brands that disappointed:
Certain Chanel products–for the money, pigmentation should be up to par.
Urban Decay: more along the lines of how they promoted Naked 2-it was shady and rubbed me the wrong way.
Sigma: advertising whores. I’d rather pay double for MAC brushes in the future.

I can’t wait to see what new & exciting beauty items catch my eye in 2012!!

Twenty-Two Days of Taupe: Day #1

I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve done a beauty video or a beauty post!  I’ve REALLY been into taupe colors lately. I thought it would be fun to come up with a little challenge for myself–”Twenty-Two Days of Taupe”! There’s no real significance behind the number twenty-two; I thought it just sounded cute *lol* Since there are SO many variations of taupe out on the beauty market, I thought it’d be fun to come out with as many taupe makeup looks as possible and my goal is to get to 22!

Day #1 starts off with the most obvious, Satin Taupe. It was literally the second eye shadow that I bought from MAC and I loved it because it went with everything I wore. This look is VERY versatile–you can wear Satin Taupe alone for a day look & smokey it out with a darker dramatic color for the evening.

I’m very big on coordinating eye makeup & outfits. Taupe is very versatile because it there are so many colors of it–dark, light, metallic, sheer, cool tones, warm tones and the list goes on…

Today’s Face of the Day:

EYES:
-NYX Pots & Pans Jumbo Eye Pencil
-MAC Satin Taupe e/s
-MAC Smut e/s
-MAC Brun e/s
-MAC Coffee Liner
-MAC Feline Kohl Power
-Makeup Forever Smoky Lash Mascara
-Cover Girl Lash Blast
-MAC Vanilla e/s

FACE:
-Benefit Hoola Bronzer (becoming my go to bronzer)
-Benefit High Beam
-Hard Candy Doll Face Luminizer
-ELF Joy Mineral Blush
-Coty Air Spun

LIPS:
MAC Fleshpot
L’Oreal Color Riche Lip Gloss in Baby Blossom

Understated Elegance

“She was a woman who, between courses, could be graceful with her elbows on the table.”

-Henry James

Rockin’ the bold lip has become almost daily for me.  Today’s bold lip? Revlon’s Cherries in the Snow-again :) A simple unstated elegant eye look and a pop of color in the lips–perfection!

The Red Lip Series: CHANEL Rouge Coco in Gabrielle

*sigh* I REALLY wanted to love this lipstick. I paid about $35 for it so as I said, I REALLY WANTED TO LOVE THIS LIPSTICK. It doesn’t work for me. Out of all my red lippy’s, this is the ONLY ONE that doesn’t work for me. I was hoping this lipstick would be a bit deeper than MAC’s Russian Red. I swatched this at the Chanel counter and I loved it but putting it on my lips… it looked so much different.  Gabrielle is a blue based red but it’s a bit brighter than I would have  hoped. I literally only used it once and I immediately put it on my blog sale page. I think this is a beautiful color but just not the color I wanted it to be. Bummer.

The Red Lip Series: Revlon Wine Not Matte Lipstick

Today’s red lip post is on Revlon’s Wine Not lipstick. This is a true matte lipstick which I find can be very drying on the lips. I had exfoliated before applying this lipstick and it still looks horrible after I applied.

This lipstick is acquired taste for sure. To me, it’s very “silent-film-esque” –a very deep brown/ red color. It’s super intense and kinda takes on a “gothic” feel on my NW20 skin tone. I remember being quite fond of this color last year but swatching it and trying it on for today’s blog post–I’m sot so sure about it now. I think it would look better on a darker skin tone for sure!

I thought it’d be funny to include this photo of me wearing Revlon’s Wine Not lipstick in black & white–see?! It’s very Silent Film-esque! Now all I need is a short bob hair cut & a finger wave! *lol* xoxo

The Red Lip Series: MAC Russian Red

I’m going to start with my very first red lipstick obsession, MAC’s
Russian Red. MAC describes this color as an intense bluish-red. This
lipstick has a matte finish and it’s what I’d call the perfect ”stereotypical” red.

My swatch of Russian Red

I feel that it looks quite flattering on my NW20
skin however, (as with most bold lippys), sometimes I feel as though I
look a bit pale. I like to put a little bronzer on to warm up my
face-no contour just a little dusting of NARS Laguna blended into my
cheekbone area. Perfection!

In the pic below–I’m rockin’ MAC Russian Red lipstick. How cute is the Mini?!
