Twenty-Two Days of Taupe: Day #1

I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve done a beauty video or a beauty post!  I’ve REALLY been into taupe colors lately. I thought it would be fun to come up with a little challenge for myself–”Twenty-Two Days of Taupe”! There’s no real significance behind the number twenty-two; I thought it just sounded cute *lol* Since there are SO many variations of taupe out on the beauty market, I thought it’d be fun to come out with as many taupe makeup looks as possible and my goal is to get to 22!

Day #1 starts off with the most obvious, Satin Taupe. It was literally the second eye shadow that I bought from MAC and I loved it because it went with everything I wore. This look is VERY versatile–you can wear Satin Taupe alone for a day look & smokey it out with a darker dramatic color for the evening.

I’m very big on coordinating eye makeup & outfits. Taupe is very versatile because it there are so many colors of it–dark, light, metallic, sheer, cool tones, warm tones and the list goes on…

A Pop of Plum

Yesterday I opted to do an all black outfit–chic & comfortable but I didn’t want to do a black smokey eye–it would have been mega overkill.

I wanted a pop of color so I opted for a deep plummy purple smokey eye–I think this look is  appropriate eye makeup for Halloween–well for me at least–no parties or special events for me (other than taking my mini out trick or treating :D )-honestly though, it’s that perfect deep purple you see in Halloween inspired items. Here’s a breakdown…

EYES:

-Sleek Bad Girl Palette (the deep purple)
-MAC Bat Black Cream Color Base
-MAC Painterly Paint Pot
-Stila Smudge Pot in Black
-MAC Circa Plum Pigment
-NARS Night Fever Eye Shadow
-MAC Vanilla Eye Shadow
-CoverGirl Lash Blast in Black
-MAC Feline Kohl Power

Spoiled Brat w/ A Pop of Pink

“Beneath the makeup and behind the smile I am just a girl who wishes for the world.”
— Marilyn Monroe

Yesterday I decided to give the Wet n’ Wild’s trio in Spoiled Brat a try. I haven’t really had a bad experience with any of the Wet n’ Wild eye shadows. This particular set of colors really caught my eye. I have this hot pink sleeveless shirt (shown below) and while I love this shirt, I often find it hard coordinating it with my eye makeup. So when I saw the WnW Spoiled Brat trio, I thought these colors would really coordinate with my hot pink shirt!

iPhone piccy–*lol*

I consider myself someone who is “safe” when it comes to makeup, so there was NO way I was going to rock a hot pink eye–that’s just not my style! *lol* however, I thought that hot pink on the lower lash line would give it a nice pop of color and still try something new at the same time.
I was quite surprised because these eye shadows did not preform as I would have hoped. I found them to be very dry and “lustre-like”. The silver color was nice and pigmented but the black and pink were hard to work with. In order to get any color to show up under my eye, I had to apply the hot pink wet. I was disappointed. I’m not too crestfallen over it thought, it was on sale for less than $3.00. Now that I know that silver, black and hot pink coordinate well together, perhaps I’ll stop by MAC to find a similar hot pink color.

Playing with “I Got Good Jeans”

Yesterday I used my Wet n’ Wild “I Got Good Jeans” eye shadow trio. I must say, I really liked it! It’s always nice to be pleasently surprised like that. I have to say that some of these eye shadows from Wet n’ Wild are just as pigmented and long wearing as anything you’d find at MAC or Sephora. Not sure how I feel about this gold color being paired with such cool colors in this trio  but overall, I really like the way these shadows preform.

I did a really basic smokey eye–I used the “brow bone” color as my lid color and the “crease” colored in my crease. I darkened it a bit in the outer V with NARS Night Flight.

Golden Green Eyes

I snapped a quick piccy(that would be my car in the background–I LOVE VW! ) while I was out today so I figured I’d include an outfit of the day with this video! I hope you all enjoy the tutorial! xo
