My Birthday & Mother’s Day Wishlist

It’s almost my favorite month–May! Not only is my birthday in May but Mother’s Day is in May too. They are about two weeks apart–my birthday being May 26th. Though I don’t like that I am closer to 30 than 20, I truly feel that us ladies gets better with age! ;)

Typically I don’t spoil myself during the year (at least not anymore). I try to only buy beauty essentials & very few “wants” during the rest of the year. May is my “pampering” month, that’s when I usually buy things I want rather than need! :p

Here is a list of some of the things I hope to get for my birthday & Mother’s Day. I doubt I’ll get any of it BUT a lot but a gal can dream….right?

I’d really like a MAC 266 brush, it seems like one would get better precision with it. Maybe I could start working on winging my eye liner more?

MAC’s Charcoal Brown e/s–it’s like one of the few browns that I don’t own.

MAC’s Contrast e/s–I’m still trying to figure out why I don’t own this fabulous color!

MAC’s Copperplate e/s –again…HOW DON’T I own this?!

MAC’s Soba e/s–Why, Nancy? Why don’t you own this?

NARS Lhasa e/s–it’s a taupeish-lavander; so beautiful. Love!

Escada Mini Perfumes–Escada Fragrances are amazing & remind me of Summer. I NEED THESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And lastly, I really want a nude bag.Right now I’m into pops of color in a scarf or shoe so a  nude bag would just complete any outfit I rock right now. My dream bag is this fabulous Jimmy Choo Rosa Satchel–only $1,750 (pennies, right?!) Psh, I will never own this expensive of a bag though, I have a 5 year old so my priorities are very much in order but seriously–such a yummy bag.

Bright & Fun Color Blocking Nails

Today I created a fun & bright color blocking mani-this mani is super easy–all you need is just a little time to sit there while the polish dries. It came out a bit messy but I’m sure the more I do this look, the better I’ll get it at.

I started my painting my nails different colors–yellow, mint green & mid-tone pink. After they dried, I then put the half moon stickers on the bottom of each nail and painted the top of the nails a different color. You are left with fun and vibrant nails that are perfect for the Spring & Summer months!

Twenty-Two Days of Taupe: Day 16

Today’s look features a silvery taupe & a deep eggplant purple.

…it’s been awhile since I’ve done a taupe post! the weather was beautiful so I was wearing bolder lips & neutral eyes. Today was col & murky out–perfect day for a smokey eye.

Breakdown of this eye look:
-L’Oreal HIP Duo in Electrified
-MAC Typographic e/s
-Maybelline 24-7 in Tough as Taupe
-MUFE Smoky Lash
-MAC Feline Kohl Power

I embraced my inner Adele today! Big hair is LOVE.

My Infamous Little Blue Dress

…it’s infamous to me at least! Someone once told me this dress was nothing more than “a cheap jersey dress”–I have to laugh at that because yes, it was cheap–only $11! And here I am, 3 seasons later, still in love with it.

This is the same dress I wore when my picture was used on the Animal Planet Travel Pet Bed so whenever I wear this dress, I can’t help but feel happy.

Blue can be a tricky color–often times I find it harder to pair other colors with it. I like to play it safe and keep all other colors, including makeup, neutral.

Bold Florals

I love rediscovering pieces in my wardrobe. Yesterday I was moving all my winter clothes into storage & moving my Summer things into my closet–4 hours of ironing later–I came across this dress from F21 that I have not worn since Summer 2010.

I adore floral pieces during the Spring & Summer months and while this particular dress does not fit into this season’s current color scheme, it’s still vibrant & so much fun to wear.

What I love about this dress is the halter top & the exposed back. This dress is so lightweight and is proportioned beautifully. Because the back is so exposed, the length of the dress was a little above the knee but no where near short.

I paired the dress with a messy fishtail braid and kept accessories at a minimum. I kept the makeup soft yet smokey (you know how I do ;p) with colors that were bronzey & warm brown. I kept the lips a very subtle shade of coral.

Embracing My Inner Hippie

Today was absolutely beautiful!! Though it was cloudy, it was warm enough for me to wear my favorite maxi dress. I love this dress–I’ve had it for about 3 years and it’s my favorite Spring/Summer piece. I have to admit that it was hard finding accessories to go with the dress, I always thought it was missing something…until I decided to add a “hippie headband”.

Yes, I know that trend is long over however, I am someone that does not follow current trends.I feel like this head piece completes the look! I can’t believe it took me this long to realize that!

The dress is from F21 & the headband is just a cream satin headband made to wear ON your head-not forehead! But it was subtle and matched the cream print in the dress. Although the sandals aren’t visible, i’m wearing basic flat nude ones. My earrings were purchased MANY YEARS AGO! I got them before I had Audrey so they are about….6 years old. They are from Claire’s.

To me, fashion is all about what makes you feel good. Tomorrow I could decide to wear my hair in a faux bob and embrace in inner “flapper girl”–who knows?! I dress according to how I feel :)

My Latest Fashion Obsession

…more like a fashion faux pas! I’m currently obsessed with these $2.00 scarves I bought from eBay & yes, they are replicas of the infamous Alexander McQueen scarves. *lol* I adore skulls, I really do….we can thank Avenged Sevenfold for that ;)

I bought one in black & loved it SO much that I bought one in white. I’ve also purchased two more of each scarf so that I can tie them to extend the length because these are quiet short.

I’ve been so sick with  a bad cold and it’s hard to feel glam or put together because of it. Adding this scarf to a basic tee, pumps, & skinny jeans gives my outfit a dose of Nancy Valentino “casual glam”.

I wish these scarves came in assorted colors but I can settle for black & white. As you can tell I have a lot of black & white in my wardrobe…

…and for the most tacky picture of all…I swore I’d never be one of “those people” *lol*
