ELVIRA: The Dark Collection

Now that chemo is becoming a distant memory, I can’t tell you how much I am enjoying trying new scents–case in point: The Elvira Collection from Demeter Fragrance Library.

I love my vampy vibes and Elvira embodies everything dark, mysterious and well…vampy. The collection consists of three scents: Black Roses, Vamp & Zombie. I’ve been using them during these crisp, cooler autumn days and let me tell you–they don’t disappoint.

I love Demeter’s Bulgarian Rose so I was excited to smell Black Roses.
The official description: “Rose Water Tea, Thorny Stem Bulgarian Rose Petals and Davana Blossom are topped with Red Currants and anchored by an earthy Patchouli, Dark Amber and Haitian Vetiver: a deep, dark swirl unlike anything else you have experienced in a Rose-inspired scent.”
My take: It smells like dainty rose water–so light and pure upon first spritz then I get this intoxicating scent of amber mixed with a bit of smokiness; The patchouli comes through as it settles on my skin.
Verdict: A very sexy rose scent. Great for evening but if you’re a rose lover like me, you’ll wear it anytime. Longevity is quite good. I got about 6-8 hours of wear time out of it.

The official description: “Poisonous Belladonna, Dracula Orchid and the Nicotiana plant form the deep, dark heart of this fragrance, rounded with peppery Maile Leaves and Ivy, smoothed and coordinated by a sheer veil of Madagascar Vanilla, White Musk and Mandarin Peel. Dangerous and irresistible.”
My take: This one is definitely sweeter. Upon first sniff I get honeysuckle. It’s so unique that I can’t quite make out the other notes but that’s not a bad thing!
Verdict: I really like it–great for daytime and longevity is great! I was still smelling this on my skin after 6-8 hours after spraying it.

The official description: “Elvira’s Zombie is stunningly beautiful; so beautiful and compelling that the olfactory experience risks putting those who smell it into a trance. The sexy center of this fragrance revolves around Ylang Ylang and Red Poppies, grounded with Tobacco Leaves and Black Vanilla Bean, while taking flights of fancy with a frosty Methadone accord and powdery Coca Petals. Very unusual and sexy stuff, indeed.”
My take: That must be one sexy smelling Zombie! I immediately smelled the vanilla upon first spray and as it settled, I smelled the tobacco. Love it. As it settled on the skin, I got the cherries…again LOVE IT. Zombie is perfect for a cool, autumn night. It’s sexy and bold.
Verdict: Another great “out of the box” scent with amazing longevity.

Overall, I LOOOOOVE Elvira collection.Buy the trio if you can because each scent smells totally different and unique in it’s own way.
